It is unfair that thousands of bright young people, who are the most stressed in the society, either cannot afford to go to university or leave the university with a mountain of debt that burdens them for decades.
It is time to make university education free and help should be provided to meet the financial needs of the lowest-income students. Moreover, help should be given to students with big university debts. We should either eliminate or lower their debt.
This is not a radical idea. Many countries offer free university education, for example, Germany, Austria, France, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Greece and Poland. Before the 1980s, studying at universities in Australia was free. I believe that abolition of university tuition fees will help greatly in reducing mental health disorders among our young generation and create a fair and harmonious society.
