Our state needs investment in health, education, and housing, not a costly new stadium! That’s why I campaigned against Macquarie Stadium in the last state election… and will continue to do so.
Northern Tasmania has already demonstrated greater commitment in support of football with 8000 more people in average game attendance compared to Hobart and has brought $30m/y economic boom from AFL games for North.

There is a danger the new stadium will lead to promoting more and better games in the south to make their investment viable which will starve the north from important AFL games with loss of economic activities and revenue.

We need to support and protect UTAS stadium and ensure that if Tasmania has their own AFL team, that UTAS stadium has equal number and quality AFL games in the future. This way all Tasmanians will be in support of the AFL team which will be a true representative of all Tasmanians. Tasmania needs to share resources equally as our population is widely distributed with 60% of Tasmanians living outside Hobart.
